Rebirth Forum Budapest   |   4-5-6 OCTOBER 2019

The Rebirth Forum applies the concepts of Demopraxy and Trinamics, as defined by Cittadellarte and Michelangelo Pistoletto, adopting the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals from their 2030 Agenda.

JOIN AND PARTICIPATE AT THE FIRST REBIRTH FORUM BUDAPEST, HUNGARY 2019!

The participants of the REBIRTH FORUM BUDAPEST will join a precise methodology, the Art of Demopraxy in the context of the initiative The Third Paradise. This is an ambitious project that empowers art and social practice, and was created by renowned Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto and Cittadellarte in 2002. It has already been applied repeatedly around the world.

WHAT IS THE REBIRTH?

Rebirth places the faculty of creation peculiar to art at the disposal of this enterprise, fulcrum of a process that affects the whole of society; art, in fact, is at the root of every artifact, as the Latin term arti-ficium, something made from art, tells us. This is why the artist, with this symbol, assumes a fundamental responsibility in human society.
Rebirth springs from Michelangelo Pistoletto’s two-decade-long experience with the Cittadellarte workshop of art and society, which combines the creative powers of art with science, technology, economics and politics and brings them to bear on every sector of our lives.
Michelangelo Pistoletto has developed a formula of creation. This consists of the principle enunciated with the Theorem of Trinamics defining the phenomenon of creation through the symbol of the triple circle. The triple circle represents the synthesis between thesis and antithesis, and thus the equilibrium (the central circle) that emerges from the interaction of opposing forces (the two outer circles).
Rebirth is the dynamics of the number three. It is the combination of two units that gives rise to a third distinct and new unit. The triple circle is a symbol of birth or rebirth, which takes place through the fortuitous or deliberate combination of two subjects, objects or concepts, like the positive and negative poles that produce electricity, like the male and female that generate a new person, like the fusion of oxygen and hydrogen that produce water and like the totalitarianism and anarchy between which democracy has developed.

WHAT IS THE THIRD PARADISE?
It is a characteristic of Pistoletto’s intellectual approach to express his thoughts on art and society in the form of manifestos, of which Third Paradise is perhaps one of the best known. Cittadellarte‘s current activities are fundamentally determined by this manifesto as well.
In essence, Third Paradise states that while the first paradise was defined by a harmonious coexistence with nature (Adam and Eve), the second is determined by the achievements of the technical revolution the world is experiencing, and its progress. The third paradise must then be a fusion of the former two. Therefore, we should make an effort to create a new type of harmony, in order for this sort of ‘paradise state’ to exist: though nature is a given, we no longer live in harmony with it, meanwhile technological advancement is at a point where it can make people’s lives on earth easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable.

ABOUT THE FORUM
The Forum is a three-day event that aims to create a platform to join forces between public and private organizations and businesses as well as institutions that engage in a daily practice of sustainability in different areas e.g. from energy to food, from production to intercultural dialogue, from design to agriculture, from culture to health.
Hosted at the Európa Pont, the forum will accommodate one hundred people, selected for their valued expertise and impactful activities in the local area.
In particular, all guests are invited to discuss and share their practices, carried out on the territory of Hungary, on ten themes inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs that the member states of the United Nations have set out to include in their political agenda until 2030). These ten themes emerge from a mapping exercise to be carried out by the organizers as a preliminary activity following the application process.
The event aims to raise awareness on the issue of sustainability by creating a network of people active in the area and to propose new dynamics to enrich society and place of Hungary as an example of a sustainable country.
Facilitated by the artist and project ambassadors, the Forum will grow up organically during the event in relation with the dialogue of the participants. The methodology includes thematic working table sessions where to explore and set a program of actions to be achieved over the next 12 months.

HOW TO APPLY
We would be very honoured if you could participate in the first REBIRTH FORUM BUDAPEST, HUNGARY 2019.
Please confirm your attendance before July 31, 2019 and fill out the APPLICATION FORM below to start the application process.
Then you'll be contacted by organizers to present your experience on this website; this web-platform allows the candidates to virtually know the other participants before the forum itself - and possibly start networking - and, last but not least, to build and publish a shared mapping of the activities and organizations taking part in the Forum.
Be aware that participation is intended for the 3 days of the entire event consistently with the aim of sharing a horizontally engaging practice.
Although the program is based on each participant’s contribution as an individual in terms of knowledge, experience, skills, attitude and overall potential, it is highly recommended that participants take part also on the grounds of an explicit approval issued from their respective organisation, in order to allow for a more structured follow-up and implementation of the wider program.
